According to researchers in England, more young people are choosing to not drink alcohol. The research reveals that 25 percent of the 10,000 young people surveyed between the ages of 16-24 are considered to be non-drinkers. Wait…..16? What’s the drinking age over there?!
Even ‘lifetime abstainers” have risen from 9 percent to 17 percent and binge drinking fell from 27 percent in 2005 to 18 percent in 2015.
According to Dr. Linda Ng Fat, the lead author of the study, non-drinking may be more socially acceptable than risky behavior like binge drinking which may be less accepted in younger circles.
Where does drinking rank in your social circles? Is it necessary to have a good time?
