The Foundation works to support the Florida Guardian ad Litem Program through private fund-raising.
What does the Guardian ad Litem Foundation do?
Advocacy
The Foundation advocates for the Florida Guardian ad Litem Program. An example of this advocacy is Guardian ad Litem Day, held each spring at the Florida State Capitol. This is a time when the Guardian ad Litem Program staff and volunteers, child welfare professionals, and other stakeholders come together for a luncheon to celebrate the Guardian ad Litem Program and raise awareness to the needs of dependent children.

Volunteer Retention and Recruitment
The Foundation promotes statewide Guardian ad Litem volunteer recruitment and retention through a variety of activities. Annually, it hosts a Guardian ad Litem awards Banquet celebrate the achievements and honor the commitment of the Programs outstanding volunteers and community advocates from each of the twenty judicial circuits. The Foundation also produces an annual conference which includes speakers and workshops that inspire and

Financial Support
Currently, the Florida Guardian ad Litem Program represents close to 27,000 abused and neglected children, but more than 4,600 children are still in need of the voice in court. A Guardian ad Litem can provide that voice. Through additional financial support of the Florida Guardian ad Litem Program, The Foundation is helping to create a new reality – where every abused, abandoned and neglected child in Florida has a voice in court through their Guardian ad Litem.
This support is available to the program because of funds donated by individuals, non profits, corporations, and foundations.

Nature Explorer Wednesdays

Sawgrass Nature Center
Let your little ones explore nature at the Sawgrass Nature Center & Wildlife Hospital. Come and enjoy a hands-on adventure exploring our natural environment and the creatures that inhabit it. The Sawgrass Nature Center welcomes “Nature Explorers” from ages 3-5 to our pre-school program every Wednesday from 10 a.m - 11 a.m. Cost is only $8.00 per child ($5.00 for SNC Members) per class. Children will have the opportunity to explore nature through hands-on encounters with live animals, stories and craft projects.

Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office Deputies & representatives from Blue Bell Ice Cream will also be on hand for this heartwarming community event.
Always wanting to give back to the community, Blue Bell Ice Cream shall present a ½ gallon of one of their new delicious Holiday Favorites to the first 100 people who stop by and donate a frozen Turkey.
These generous donations provided by members of our community will help make a difference this holiday season to those who need it most. All donations stay local!

2nd Annual Miles for Makayla 5K Run/Walk

Hundreds of runners will hit the streets to honor a very special child and to enhance the lives of local children. The second annual “Miles for Makayla 5K Run/Walk” will be held on Saturday, November 17th at 7:30 a.m. at Abacoa Town Center in Jupiter. This event will feature a chip-timed 5K race, on a USATF Certified Course through the beautiful community of Abacoa; as well as Makayla’s Mile, a family-friendly walk; free races for kids ages 2 to 7; and a Diaper Dash for children under 2. Everyone who crosses the finish line, runners and walkers alike, will receive a custom Finisher’s medal! Food and refreshments will be available after the race; and the whole family will enjoy the free entertainment!

All proceeds will benefit the band and color guard program.
