HISTORY AND PURPOSE OF VETERANS MEMORIAL PARK

Veterans Memorial Park was first identified for future consideration in 2010.  Mrs. Dee Rennebaum, North Palm Beach resident and landscape architect, heard of the Veterans Memorial Park initiative and, in collaboration withSimmons & White Engineering, volunteered time, resources and expertise in designing a conceptual plan for a park that would serve to pay homage to our veterans.  Michael Redd & Associates, P.A. were contracted to provide final design services, including design development and preparation of final working drawings.  M.V.P. Contractors, Inc. was awarded the bid for construction of the park, to be completed in late October 2013.  Financing for the development and construction of Veterans Memorial Park was made possible by developer fees that are reserved for parks and recreational purposes.

Veterans Memorial Parkfeatures a display of flags from all branches the United States Armed Services, a central display of the American Flag, trellised seating areas, stage, and space for public events.  Members of the public who wish to honor a special veteran may make a contribution for a brick, bench, trellis, or tree that will be included in the park as a lasting tribute to their service.  In addition to its use for special events, such as Veterans Day and the Annual Holiday Tree Lighting, Veterans Memorial Park offers passive areas for individual reflection.
