India Fest 2014 Celebrates Indian Culture and Heritage in West Palm Beach
The rich, colorful and diverse culture of India will be showcased at the 11th annual India Fest in West Palm Beach. India Fest 2014 will feature an exciting variety of music, dance, fashion, food, cultural learning and fun for the entire family. India Fest 2014 will take place Saturday, February 22nd from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the Meyer Amphitheater in West Palm. The event is presented by the Palm Beach India Association (PBIA) and admission is free.
India Fest has become a highly anticipated, premier event in South Florida, with more than 15,000 expected to enjoy a spirited day of fun and entertainment celebrating Indian culture and history. People from all walks of life are encouraged to attend and enjoy delightful Indian regional cuisine, classical and regional folk dances, colorful fashion shows, dynamic Indian costumes and jewelry, and a handicrafts exposition. Exciting entertainment from India’s top performers will include Bhangra, Raas, Kathak, Bharatnatyam, Koli Dance, Rajathani Dance, and much more.
This event provides an opportunity for everyone in South Florida to experience the diversity of India, and promotes awareness its rich cultural heritage and history. India Fest 2014 is extending this learning experience to the School District of Palm Beach County by sponsoring an essay contest for students in all grades. The students will write about various aspects of India and its culture, and their work will be judged by a committee that includes school teachers. The winning essays will be announced at India Fest 2014, with cash prizes being awarded to the top three essays in the elementary, middle school and high school categories.
“India Fest 2014 will provide fun and entertainment for people of all cultures in South Florida,” said Kalpana Chokshi, President of PBIA. “Each year we present India Fest to enrich the community and serve the people. India Fest has grown in popularity, with attendance increasing 600% since we first started. The event is easily accessible in downtown West Palm Beach for drivers and pedestrians, and we invite everyone to come for an amazing experience.”
